The truth is: <strong>in the Dominican Republic, mosquitoes practically do not transmit serious diseases<\/strong>. Malaria? There have been no recorded cases of malaria in resorts or cities for years. Other mosquito-borne diseases, such as dengue, occur very sporadically and mainly in remote areas that tourists rarely visit. Most mosquitoes are simply&#8230; annoying, causing itchy bites. A repellent will solve the problem.      <\/p>\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Spiders? Certainly, as in any tropical country, they exist \u2013 but mainly in forests and secluded areas. <strong>You are unlikely to encounter them in residential areas, hotels, or apartments<\/strong>. And certainly not any that would pose a real threat. Snakes, similar to spiders, primarily inhabit forested areas and are far from human settlements. Moreover, most species are non-venomous. Simply put: the risk of encountering a snake on the beach or near your villa is practically zero. Nature in the Dominican Republic has its wild side, but you do not need to fear it.      <\/p>\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"h-rekiny-meduzy-i-inne-legendy-plazowe-co-jest-prawda\">Sharks, Jellyfish, and Other Beach Legends \u2013 What is True?<\/h2>\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">One of the most common questions asked before the first trip to a Dominican beach is: <em>is there anything dangerous lurking in the water?<\/em> <strong>The answer will reassure most people: there is nothing to fear<\/strong>. Regarding sharks \u2013 yes, various species live in the waters around the Dominican Republic, as in the entire Caribbean region. But attacks on humans? They practically never occur. The beaches are well-known and safe, and sharks stay away from areas where people swim and engage in water sports. Sometimes the sea washes up a jellyfish, but these are not dangerous species. On popular beaches (Punta Cana, Bavaro, La Romana), swimming is safe. Services monitor the situation, and if any threat were to arise, warnings would be issued immediately. The biggest risks are sunburn or drinking one too many cocktails&#8230; and those are what you should be more concerned about. \ud83d\ude42<\/p>\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"h-inne-niebezpieczne-zwierzeta-w-dominikanie\">Other &#8220;Dangerous&#8221; Animals in the Dominican Republic<\/h2>\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>On the island, you might encounter iguanas or small lizards, which are completely non-aggressive<\/strong> and often flee before you can even get a good look at them. Similarly with bats \u2013 they live here naturally but pose no threat to humans. Occasionally, on trips to national parks, guides mention scorpions or tropical wasps \u2013 it is true that such creatures live here, but contact with them is practically non-existent if you stick to designated paths and standard areas.
