Some of these include a <strong>corporation<\/strong> (Sociedad An\u00f3nima, SA), a <strong>simplified corporation<\/strong> (Sociedad An\u00f3nima Simplificada, SAS), a <strong>limited liability company<\/strong> (Sociedad de Responsabilidad Limitada, SRL), or a <strong>sole proprietorship with limited liability<\/strong> (Empresa Individual de Responsabilidad Limitada, EIRL). <\/p>\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Which Institutions Will We Work With?<\/h3>\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Establishing a company can be done in person at government offices or online. In the Dominican Republic, there are <strong>three main institutions<\/strong> you will deal with when starting a business &#8211; the <strong>Tax Office<\/strong> (DGII), the <strong>National Office of Industrial Property<\/strong> (ONAPI), and the <strong>Chamber of Commerce in Santo Domingo<\/strong> &#8211; which provide detailed information regarding the entire process. You will need to contact each of them to complete the formalities.  <\/p>\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">ONAPI is responsible for <strong>registering the name<\/strong> of your company. Here you will need to submit the necessary documentation, including complete personal information of the person establishing the company and a detailed description of the services the company will provide. At the Chamber of Commerce, you will need to arrange for <strong>registration in the commercial registry<\/strong> and submit scanned copies of the company&#8217;s articles of incorporation.
