On Thursday, June 10, the Dominican Republic Economic Forum 2021 took place. It was the first and only such business event focusing on the tourist paradise and the region’s greatest economic potential. At the forum, we led a panel on investing, real estate purchases, and the practical daily aspects of cooperating with companies in the Dominican Republic.

The entire event was opened and hosted by Andrzej Włodarski. Due to his position on the board of the Polish-Dominican Chamber of Commerce, he was best able to describe how the Chamber was established and what its main goals are for now and for the coming years. Next, we had the pleasure of watching a recording from the Polish Ambassador to Panama, Leszek Biały, who officially opened the Forum. After the welcome, Mr. Dariusz Latoszek from the Ministry of Development, Labor and Technology took the floor. He outlined the existing relations between Poland and the Dominican Republic and spoke about the best aspects of the Dominican Republic. One of the most important lectures during the event was a connection with Centro de Exportación e Inversión de República Dominicana | CEI-RD. Marcial Smester, Director of Foreign Investment, presented the economic opportunities for which the Dominican Republic is famous. It was a very interesting and information-packed short lecture. Here, huge applause goes to Ms. Dorota Twardo, who professionally translated what the Dominican side wanted to convey to us.

After this lecture, we moved to the tourism sector. Ms. Karla Czehova from the Department of Tourism for Eastern Europe told us about it. After such a dose of information, it was time for a break. There was no shortage of conversations and questions regarding topics related to the Dominican Republic. Next, Mr. Jędrzej Pacak, a representative of Casa Dominicana, gave a lecture. He spoke about the real estate sector, which currently interests Poles investing in the Dominican Republic the most. Based on his experience, he presented what cooperation with companies operating in the Dominican Republic looks like. The next guest was Mr. Arkadiusz Zabłoński from BGK – we support business development. He shared with the audience how state investments can help in investing in countries abroad. The next topic, which is essential for travel to the Dominican Republic, was the issue of visas and permanent residency. This very important topic was described by the President of the Chamber, Herikc Agesta Smith, who knows it perfectly well.

On behalf of the Polish-Dominican Chamber of Commerce, we would like to thank the main sponsor Casa Dominicana, our partners Manager Business Hub, BGK – we support business development, Olsztyn Real Estate and Home Construction Fair – TargiOlsztyn.pl, and the institutions that granted us honorary patronage Centro de Exportación e Inversión de República Dominicana | CEI-RD, Ministry of Development, Labor and Technology, National Chamber of Commerce, and Dominican Republic in Poland Foundation.
