Prices for all-inclusive trips to the Dominican Republic start at approximately 4-4.5 thousand PLN per week, while Zanzibar offers can be found slightly cheaper. The problem appears on-site – in the Dominican Republic, food and service costs outside the resort are moderate, and renting a 2-room apartment in Punta Cana starts at $900-1,000 per month. In Zanzibar, prices for foreigners rise quickly – an apartment in Stone Town typically costs over $600, and in tourist restaurants the bill can exceed that of Warsaw.
Safety and Infrastructure – Daily Realities

This means that walking along the beach or using local attractions, you can feel truly safe. In some cities, such as Santo Domingo, pickpockets occur, but these are cases typical of most large metropolitan areas worldwide. In Zanzibar, the risk is noticeably higher – in Stone Town, purse or phone thefts regularly occur, and solitary walks after dark are not a good idea. In tourist areas, scammers also appear who can be persistent. In the Dominican Republic, a tourist even outside the resort can feel relatively at ease, whereas in Zanzibar it’s better to avoid solitary outings and always maintain great caution.
Conditions for Permanent Living – Paradise for Remote Workers
If you’re considering relocation, the Dominican Republic offers significantly greater possibilities. There are numerous expat communities here, it’s easy to rent an apartment in a good location, and extended stays don’t require residency. Additionally, there are large supermarkets and an extensive service network that make it possible to live here comfortably for years. Zanzibar tempts with exoticism, but in the long term it’s a difficult place to live. Infrastructure problems, higher daily costs than in the Dominican Republic in tourist zones, slow internet, and the need for malaria prophylaxis mean that many foreigners treat this island as a short-term stopover rather than a permanent home.
