Bayahibe is one of those places in the Dominican Republic that seems tailor-made for real estate investors. While Punta Cana undoubtedly leads the way, this resort on the Caribbean Sea is increasingly hot on its heels. But why exactly is Bayahibe worth considering? Discover our perspective as investors with many years of experience in the Dominican Republic.

Why is Bayahibe a good idea for investors?

Tourism boom – rental demand is growing!

For years, the Dominican Republic has been one of the most visited places in the Caribbean. And Bayahibe, although smaller and quieter than Punta Cana, attracts more and more tourists. This is partly due to nearby attractions – Cotubanamá National Park, Saona Island, and Catalina Island are places that attract hundreds of thousands (and even millions) of adventure-seeking travelers every year. And where a longer adventure awaits, the demand for accommodation grows – not only in hotels but also in short-term rental apartments.

This is where investors come in. Renovated, exclusive apartments and houses can be purchased here for between $200,000 and $300,000 USD. For slightly higher budgets, i.e., $400,000 – $500,000 USD, villas with private pools and gardens also appear. Either way, converted to Polish zlotys, for the equivalent of PLN 700,000 – 800,000, you will receive a beautiful apartment located near the Caribbean Sea. In large Polish cities, for that amount of money, you would buy a lower-standard apartment in a crowded, unattractive area.

The conclusion is therefore obvious – the Dominican Republic simply pays off more.

Bayahibe’s development = investment security

Bayahibe is located just an hour’s drive from Punta Cana International Airport and just over 30 minutes from La Romana. As if that weren’t enough, new shops, restaurants, and services are being built in the area, which enhance the quality of life for residents. All this makes the resort an excellent base for tourists – and a proverbial golden goose for investors. Since a large part of the Dominican Republic’s income comes from the tourism sector, the government is eager to develop the most popular regions: and Bayahibe is no exception.

The procedures for purchasing real estate are very simple, even for foreigners – you do not need Dominican citizenship or even special permits. Compared to more developed resorts like Punta Cana, prices in Bayahibe are even more affordable. And best of all – the value of these properties increases year by year! This means, neither more nor less, that by investing now in an apartment worth $200,000 USD, in 10 years it may be worth $250,000 USD (not including inflation). In addition, you can count on passive income from short- or long-term rentals. Do these numbers sound abstract? Given the continuous development of the Dominican Republic and the general increase in interest in real estate, this scenario is highly probable.

What else speaks in favor of Bayahibe?

  • Short-term tourist rentals (especially during the winter season) generate significant income for investors. Platforms like Airbnb or Booking are very popular here.
  • There is no winter, no off-season, and temperatures constantly hover around 28–32°C. This means that properties in Bayahibe are rented out all year round.
  • The resort offers something priceless – a lifestyle in a Caribbean paradise. The cost of living here is lower than in the USA or Europe, which means you can live comfortably without major expenses.

In summary…

Bayahibe is an excellent option for investors looking for real estate in a tropical paradise. A stable market, growing rental demand, low purchase prices (still!), a beautiful area, and an excellent climate are just some of the reasons why it is worth considering an investment here. If you dream of real estate in the Dominican Republic – Bayahibe is one of the best destinations before prices go up!
