One of the new ways to travel from Poland to the Dominican Republic is to fly via Madrid and then continue to Punta Cana with World2Fly. This is an interesting alternative to direct charter flights, especially for travelers who prefer to plan their trip independently.
If you are taking this route for the first time, it is worth checking in advance what to expect when transferring at Adolfo Suárez Madrid-Barajas Airport and how the onward flight to Punta Cana works. Below, we guide you through the entire journey, from arriving in Madrid to landing in the Dominican Republic.

1. World2Fly – What You Need to Know Before Your Flight
World2Fly is a Spanish airline that specializes, among other things, in long-haul flights from Spain to the Caribbean. The flight from Madrid to Punta Cana takes approximately 9 hours.
Baggage
World2Fly offers three main fare types: Basic, Plus and Flex. Each includes one piece of cabin baggage weighing up to 10 kg. Passengers can also bring a small personal item, such as a handbag, which should fit under the seat in front of them.
With the Basic fare, checked baggage is not included in the ticket price. With the Plus and Flex fares, passengers can bring one checked suitcase weighing up to 23 kg. If you need additional baggage, you can purchase an extra suitcase as part of your booking. The price depends on the specific flight and availability, so it is best to check the cost directly when booking your ticket.
Ticket Prices
The cost of your flight depends mainly on your travel dates and how far in advance you book. World2Fly indicates that, during selected periods, one-way tickets on the Madrid-Punta Cana route can be found starting at around €250. However, this is not a fixed price. Fares can be significantly higher during peak season or when booking shortly before departure.

2. Connection in Madrid
After arriving in Madrid, the main part of your connection begins. Since World2Fly does not operate direct flights from Poland, you will need to collect your checked baggage in Madrid and then check it in again for your flight to the Dominican Republic. For this reason, it is important to allow enough time between flights.
After leaving the plane, follow the signs for “Exit / Baggage Claim” to collect your luggage. Then head towards the exit, following the “Exit / Nothing to Declare” signs. Once outside the terminal, look for the free airport shuttle bus, which operates between the terminals.

For the route described above, the shuttle bus takes you to Terminal 4 (T4). Keep in mind that the buses can get crowded, so you may occasionally need to wait for the next one. You also cannot board the shuttle bus with a luggage trolley.
Terminal 4 and World2Fly Check-in
After arriving at Terminal 4, enter the building and head left towards the World2Fly check-in desks. This is where you check in your checked baggage again and collect your printed boarding pass for the flight to the Dominican Republic.
Make sure you have your passport and e-ticket ready at check-in. You should have proof of both your arrival in the Dominican Republic and your return flight. Proof of onward or return travel is required during check-in, and World2Fly applies this requirement quite strictly. Without the appropriate confirmation, you may not be issued a boarding pass.
If you are travelling as a tourist, keep in mind that the standard permitted stay under the tourist entry rules is up to 30 days. If you plan to stay in the Dominican Republic for longer, check the current rules for extending your stay in advance.

Security Check, Metro and Access to the S Gates
After checking in, you need to go through security with your carry-on baggage. Next, make your way to the S gates. Madrid Airport is large and may seem confusing at first, but simply following the signs will help you find your way.
After security, head downstairs and take the airport’s automated transit train to the end of the line. Once you get off, follow the signs to the S gates, take the escalator back upstairs and proceed through passport control.

After passport control, all that remains is to walk through the Duty Free area and check your gate number. It is worth checking the departure boards straight away, as your gate number may change. On the journey described here, the gate was S6. You can reach your gate using the moving walkways, among other options.
3. The Flight to Punta Cana – What to Expect
Boarding takes place in groups, according to the boarding group indicated on your printed boarding pass. The flight from Madrid to Punta Cana takes approximately 9 hours.
On the flight described here, passengers were served one full meal, along with drinks and a snack.

An in-flight entertainment system is also available on board, which is definitely useful on such a long journey. The selection of movies and other content is extensive, making it easy to find something to enjoy and pass the time. World2Fly provides headphones on board, so there is no need to bring your own.
4. Arriving in Punta Cana
After landing in Punta Cana, you will still need to go through passport control before collecting your baggage. The next step is an additional security check, during which suitcases and bags are screened. World2Fly operates from Terminal A at Punta Cana Airport.
